When One Thrives, We Thrive!

It is our inherent belief that our communities can thrive. Regardless of someone’s background, we believe in the collective strength of individuals, families, donors, foundations, and communities to ensure we have what we need to thrive. United Way is the biggest champion to lean in and connect many voices fueling our mission—mobilizing the goodwill and resources of our communities.

Our guiding light that empowers our action-oriented spirit is our impact areas. Each impact area has its own definition and components that manifest via the programs we support and initiatives that we launch.

Ensuring Children and Youth have Equitable Resources for Success (youth opportunity) is an impact area focused on youth from birth to age 21 enter school ready, are successful in primary school, graduate secondary school, and gain the knowledge, skills, and credentials to obtain family-sustaining employment.

Upwardly Mobile for a Prosperous Community (financial security) is another impact area focused on ensuring individuals gain great jobs and effectively manage their resources to increase income, build wealth, and improve financial stability.

Creating Pathways for Accessible Health Living (healthy community) is an impact area focused on individuals and families have access to healthcare and improve health for
basic needs, safe places to live, and social and emotional connections to positively impact someone’s quality of life.

And Fortifying Our Communities to Preserve Our Sustainability (community resiliency) is the final impact area that focuses on addressing the communities’ most urgent needs where they have access to disaster relief and recovery, emergency preparedness, crisis hotline and support, and environmental stewardship and sustainability.

All impact areas—youth opportunity, healthy community, community resiliency, and financial security—are closely tied to the Social Determinants of Health, which reminds us of the importance of supporting work that engages biological, psychological, and social factors of the human experience from prenatal to adulthood and from our homes to our neighborhoods.

When these areas collectively work together, we can see and experience the magnificent ecosystem communities thriving together.
